THE INTERNATIONAL CENTER’S FLAG PROGRAM OBTAINS NEW SPONSOR

(Indianapolis, IN – August 18, 2015) . . . The International Center has received a $7,000 grant from the Nicholas H. Noyes, Jr., Memorial Foundation, Inc. to support The Center’s Flag Program. The Flag Program, comprised of all 193 flags of the United Nations, was formed in 2011 as a result of a community need for flags at multicultural events taking place in the greater Indianapolis area. The Center maintains the flag collection and provides them, along with the expertise and equipment necessary for appropriate display, to various community organizations hosting or participating in multicultural events within Marion Country

Indianapolis Sister Cities Program Wins Sister Cities International’s Innovation Award

(WASHINGTON, DC – June 11, 2015) . . . The International Center Receives Indianapolis Foundation Grant

(INDIANAPOLIS – May 21, 2015) . . . The International Center has received a $35,000 grant from the Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), which will support The Center’s Festival Fund. The Festival Fund serves internationally-focused organizations and their events in the greater Indianapolis area that enrich cultural life by celebrating cultural expression and encourage understanding and appreciation for different cultures. Sponsorship preference is provided to events promoting education about the nations that represent the residents of Central Indiana and that highlight the arts, cultures, foods and traditions of those nations. Indianapolis to Host International Women of Courage Award Recipient from Bolivia

(INDIANAPOLIS – March 6, 2015) — The International Center has announced that Rosa Julieta Montaño Salvatierra, Founder and Director of Oficina Juridica para la Mujer in Bolivia, is visiting Indianapolis through Wednesday, March 11 to meet with local government and nonprofit leaders who share her passion for advocating for the rights of women, particularly advocacy for victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse. Ms. Montaño is one of ten women worldwide who received an International Women of Courage distinction from Deputy Secretary of State Heather Higginbottom and First Lady Michelle Obama and who are traveling to nine U.S.
