The International Center Receives Lilly Foundation Grant and Launches Civic Engagement Program for Expatriates

INDIANAPOLIS – (March 21, 2016)… The International Center has received a $237,000 grant from the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation.  To be awarded in installments over the next three years, the grant will serve to support general operations for the organization as well as provide funding for the launch of a new International Center program, Civic Engagement for Expatriates. With grant support from the Lilly Foundation and through a partnership with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the new Civic Engagement for Expatriates program offers participants the opportunity to develop their leadership profiles and enrich their experiences

The International Center to honor IU President McRobbie as 2016 International Citizen of the Year

Feb. 12, 2016 INDIANAPOLIS and BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie will receive the 2016 International Citizen of the Year Award, which honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the globalization of Indiana. McRobbie will receive the award from The International Center at a special dinner and ceremony on Sept. 20 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis. Last year marked the 30th anniversary for the award, which was established in 1985 to recognize Hoosiers who have fostered a world view in Indiana through business, culture, education, government, medicine, research, media, sports and community service.

THE INTERNATIONAL CENTER’S FLAG PROGRAM OBTAINS NEW SPONSOR

(Indianapolis, IN – August 18, 2015) . . . The International Center has received a $7,000 grant from the Nicholas H. Noyes, Jr., Memorial Foundation, Inc. to support The Center’s Flag Program. The Flag Program, comprised of all 193 flags of the United Nations, was formed in 2011 as a result of a community need for flags at multicultural events taking place in the greater Indianapolis area. The Center maintains the flag collection and provides them, along with the expertise and equipment necessary for appropriate display, to various community organizations hosting or participating in multicultural events within Marion Country

Indianapolis Sister Cities Program Wins Sister Cities International’s Innovation Award

The International Center Receives Indianapolis Foundation Grant

(INDIANAPOLIS – May 21, 2015) . . . The International Center has received a $35,000 grant from the Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), which will support The Center’s Festival Fund. The Festival Fund serves internationally-focused organizations and their events in the greater Indianapolis area that enrich cultural life by celebrating cultural expression and encourage understanding and appreciation for different cultures.
